Summer Bridesmaid, the eighth book in the Lee Corcoran series, follows Lee Corcoran, who has just completed his freshman year in college at the University of Michigan. His life keeps taking unexpected turns.
While the book is written to allow a reader to enjoy it without all of the history, if you want to understand everything, reading the previous seven books is the only way. These books follow Lee and his best friend Darby, a girl.
As a freshman in high school, Lee became involved in a girls cheerleading program as an advisor and trainer where he was reluctantly introduced to crossdressing. Lee found that he enjoyed the softer side of clothing. Circumstances forced Lee to wear a feminine wardrobe in more and more situations.
Spoiler alert [if you have not read the other books]
Throughout high school, Lee dated women, participated in cheerleading, was the starting shortstop on the baseball team for four years, and wore women’s underwear and outer clothes virtually all the time in his senior year. He and his friends accomplished a lot. Lee ended up being the head cheerleader.
Over time, his best friend, Darby, learned of Lee’s preferences for certain feminine attire. Lee is attending college and dressing 100% of the time as a female student. He is active in Cheerleading and pledged the Pi Omega Mu sorority on campus. He and his best friend Darby are now a couple although they do not tell everyone on campus. Lee is living in a girl’s dormitory with other cheerleaders.
Lee and Darby have been asked to be bridesmaids in the wedding of Lee’s high school cheerleading coach. They are returning home after a year in college living together. Lee and Darby are exploring different employment paths and trying to determine their futures. They have done a lot of modeling and surely there will be more requests for their services.
This story deals with a reluctant crossdresser who tries not to sacrifice his manhood while enjoying his unusual choice in clothing.
This book tries to deal with cross-dressing as part of real life.
Given the ages of the characters, the story does not involve explicit sex.
Young adult readers should be comfortable reading this book.

"With his soulmate intimately entwined in his life, Lee finds himself conflicted with his male ego. Surrounded on all sides, the days of being a “secret agent†are long gone. Now, he must learn to outsmart those who would bring them harm; as opposed to turning to the dark side and fighting back!
In all seriousness, this is becoming a struggle for him. Not having those little girl experiences is becoming a liability, and this “episode†exposes that.
The first five books spent a majority of the time focusing on Lee and Darby’s relationship. The last three have spent more time on his struggle to maintain his core identity. I was hooked on their relationship throughout the first five books and would like to see a little more of that defined! I can’t wait to see where Diane will take THEM (not just Lee)! It would be interesting to see more of their life together from Darby’s point of view.
All in all, I can’t say enough about how much I enjoy this ENTIRE series! Thank you, Diane, for another great chapter in the Lee and Darby saga!!! I truly loved this book and eagerly await your next installment! Thank you for presenting this one to us so quickly!"

- With his soulmate intimately entwined in his life, Lee finds himself conflicted with his male ego. Surrounded on all sides, the days of being a “secret agent†are long gone. Now, he must learn to outsmart those who would bring them harm; as opposed to turning to the dark side and fighting back!

All in all, I can’t say enough about how much I enjoy this ENTIRE series! Thank you, Diane, for another great chapter in the Lee and Darby saga!!! I truly loved this book and eagerly await your next installment! Thank you for presenting this one to us so quickly! - This is a great addition to the Lee series. I really enjoyed the National Cheerleading meeting and the baseball stuff.
The "adventure" during the camping trip and everyone's reaction to that was well written, though hard on Lee.
I sure hope that Lee and Darby can be more open about their relationship. I hate it when they are out and Lee ends up having to dance with other men, like at the wedding.
I would hope that if Lee and Darby are more open about their relationship, it might avoid situations that Lee finds uncomfortable.
It was great seeing Rodino's reaction to Lee's suits.
I look forward to seeing what happens when the PLD line comes out.
I can't wait to find out who the 4th is! - I love this series and book 8, the time between Freshman and Sophomore years, is another delight. In this book, there is some violence and attacks on Lee, and he really questions his place in the world, i.e. his masculinity. And he should do so. But the events are interesting, more modeling, his work on the Cheerleader board and some baseball.
There were a few typos, which I communicated to the author but nothing glaring. Eagerly looking forward to book 9.
As an aside, for anyone wanting another highly imaginative series, I recommend Lina J. Potter's "A Strong Woman in the Middle Ages." - I really like this series but the punctuation, spelling and context errors are becoming irritating. What I find most distressing are the multiple awkward sentence constructions throughout the books. I have so enjoyed the story line but I find myself arresting my reading to make sense of a particular phrase. Yes, I will continue to buy this series but, please, get some help.
- Lee must have found the secret to 48 hour days. He is the Energizer bunny personified. I love what he does and how he does it but at this rate he'll be getting the Nobel Peace Prize before he finishes college! Would like to see Darby a bit more, she's getting lost in all the things Lee does. At times you get the feeling he does girl better than the girls and that's not always the best message to take away from what is a very positive and uplifting series.
- Daring Diane does it again. I am so looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I would say hurry and release them but I know quality takes time.
- Who would of thunk it, 8 followed 7 immediately. Thank you, a little overboard on clothes duscriptions, but I am a guy. Sometimes Lee seems like a Marvel superhero, but I eagerly await #9
- I was so happy to see last night that another chapter in a cheerleader series was posted. This is really a great series in a fun read. It's really a sweet story and highly addicting. So Diane please hurry with your next book.
