CONVICT Unfit Hero Hayley Faiman Ellie McLove Books Reviews

  • Convict is the first book in the new Unfit Hero series for author Hayley Faiman. I have been a big fan of this author since I read her Notorious Devils MC series. Her writing leans toward the more erotic side of romance with a little dark suspense thrown in and with Convict we saw a more sensitive side of her writing.

The main character Rylan has just been released from a five-year prison sentence after committing vehicular manslaughter while under the influence. His parents are junkies, he’s a former dealer and recovering addict, he has all the baggage to self-destruct the minute he is out of prison.
The heroine, Channing, is a naïve, young waitress. She has been having an affair with her ex-teacher and just recently found out that she is pregnant with his child. She was raised by a single alcoholic mother, which also gives her all the reason to continue the cycle.
What we find when they come together is that sometimes broken pieces can complete a puzzle. Rylan and Channing finding each other was what they needed to cut from what their future should look like and pave their own way.

I supremely enjoyed Rylan’s character and his journey through this book. Faiman has a way of writing broken male characters that society tells us we are supposed to hate, but we end up falling in love with. I wasn’t a huge fan of the heroine Channing, I just didn’t feel like we got to know her as well, so I didn’t have that connection with her. But the overall story-line was good with some unexpected twists and suspense. I am excited to see where this series goes and whose book will be next.
  • Oh wow, Hayley Faiman has done it again! She has given us a story that sucks the reader in, makes us care about the characters to the point that when the book is finished we’re not even close to wanting to see it end and we’re psyched to get to the next book in the series! Yep, that’s where I am, next book, need to see how Rylan and Channing are doing and get full disclosure on all the guys! But I’ve jumped way ahead here...sorry...Convict is an amazing story. Rylan and Channing are broken souls who find each other and it’s so heartbreaking at times to read because people can be so destructive and hurtful, but their love for each other and the family they have surrounding them make all the hard times fade away. Love the spirit of this book and honestly can’t wait to see who’s story is next...can’t wait to revisit these fascinating people. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book...I also purchased a copy.
  • This book is a bit different from what I usually read, but I really enjoy the books by this author, so I was willing to give it a shot. I am very happy that I did. Not only do live close to and visit several of the towns mentioned in the book, but the writing was excellent. This book was really believable, especially the way the characters struggle with everyday life. Even though they had bad experiences, they were there for each other and got a second chance at love and happiness.
  • Wow!! This book was brilliantly conceived and written! It has been a long time since I have read such an enthralling story! I loved it!
  • Hayley Faiman has written by beautiful but sometimes painful story about redemption. Loved it!!
You will not disappointed. Hope Wyatt is next.
  • Hayley has done it again ... gone and written a book that captures you, holds on to you and finally pulls you so far into her story that you can not exit it till the final page.
This is the first installment in a new series-and wow what a first installment it was.
Rylan and Channing were both dealt crap hands at life but what they do with those hands determines their future.
He-an ex con, former drug dealer and newly sober alcoholic.
She a young girl who has been manipulated by a married man that she should have been able to trust but instead filled her head with fantasies and untruths about their future.
This book will definitely affect you in one way or another-it's heart wrenching , soul searching and beautifully written about two broken souls who find one another so they can start to heal each other.
Can't wait for the next installment.
  • Wow, talk about all the craziness!

Sometimes it felt as if there were a lot of things happening at once, so it got a bit crazy, but other than that this book was a freaking delight to read. This was my first book to ready by Hayley Faiman and you better believe I will be checking out more!

In the prologue we learn that Rylan is being sent to prison for vehicular homicide while he was driving under the influence. FF to 5 years later and he is just getting out. This guy was DEFINITELY the product of his upbringing. It was almost a good thing that he was put away because that changed him into knowing that he does not want to continue to use drugs and alcohol and basically be a shitty person.

Channing, in the prologue we learn that she is having an affair with her MARRIED young teacher. She believes that he is in love with her and that he will leave his wife as soon as she graduates and is not in his class anymore. She knows this is wrong, but she does not care because she loves him. FF 2 years later and she is still his dirty little secret, not only that but she is pregnant.

This is when the story really begins and guys, it is freaking good. Like I said, there is a lot going on sometimes, but the writing is superb and the heat between these two characters is off the freaking charts. Rylan is definitely a freaking alpha and super viral man and after being locked up for 5 years, he has some things to make up for.

These two are deemed to be misfits and outcasts in their small town, him being the convict and her the home-wrecking slut. Can these two misfits find their home and security with each other?

Well you just gotta read it to to see! ;)

All in all--- read this book-- it was great and the story line blew my mind!
