• I love it because it Harry describes the techniques that worked best for him. It's geared toward beginners, so the methods he chooses to teach are simple enough for total beginners (like me) to learn to do well. The card tricks are all done with a normal deck, no modifications needed and no trick decks. You'll learn to control card position to make the tricks work, as well as how to perform the tricks and what to say to direct the audience's attention where you want it - or from where you don't want it.
  
  I did, very occasionally, find it difficult to follow along with what he described. There are plenty of diagrams and detailed descriptions, but it was still occasionally hard to really grasp the procedure. But then I just searched YouTube for the name of the sleight he was describing and, after watching someone do it, things clicked much faster.
• I purchased this book when I was first getting into magic several years ago. I read the book cover to cover and practiced as I read. I feel that the book served as a fantastic introduction to magic. I highly recommend this book as your introductory book to magic. The tricks and sleights are accessible and I still perform 5 or 6 of the effects on a weekly basis several years later
  
  Harry Lorayne is a legend in magic and this book is a great place to start to get into the art. Highly recommended!
• A notch or two above beginner's books. Lorayne writes in his easy to understand style, just like in his card magic books that are primarily published for the magic profession. This edition is at a great price as original copies are selling for $80+! Contains effects with cards, coins, mind reading, magic squares (WOW!), and other items that you could find in your pockets. If you like his style and are interested in more advanced work try Deck-sterity, Personal Secrets, and others. Truly a gifted teacher of magic!
• Lots of great moves. Dedicate the time & patience to learning each move carefully & you'll wind up being a truly good practitioner of the magical arts. Author is one of the greatest teachers in the history of magic.
• I gave this as a Christmas gift to my grandson and it was very much appreciated.
