Dying To Be Loved A Heartbreaking Memoir eBook Erin Logemann Reviews
- I don't know what made me think this was going to be mostly about the brother, but I am reading the overview again and I see it never really said that. I got up to chapter 12 & just don't want to finish it. Each chapter appears to start talking about the brother, then immediately goes into the author complaining about her parents during her childhood mostly in elementary school. No major details about the abuse, so far. I was hoping for a better read but, it has lost my attention.
- A raw story about siblings & the aftermath of growing up in an abusive home. Tragic, emotional & heartbreaking, offering the many faces of trauma that can appear when you live through abuse. An excellent , easy to read book.
- Truly a heart wrenching story. Beautifully written.
- Read the entire memoir in 1 sitting. Set aside a few hours, you won’t be able to put it down.
- I was engrossed in the story from the get-go and rooted for the author all along. The use of the actual emails brought the story alive and painted each family member vividly. I could not even imagine having parents like the author had that would treat three children as they did. It was heartbreaking to see the effect it had on the author's brother; however, it was heartwarming to know the author survived and thrived in spite of her abusive upbringing. I can see the value for others who've had similar experiences to gain hope from the author's journey.
- A truly inspiring story of the authors sad, heart wrenching journey through a traumatic childhood and her formidable spirit in overcoming adversity and emerging triumphant. This was quite a tear-jerker and is a must read. I started to browse the book as soon as it arrived and was immediately captivated. I could not put the book down and read it in one sitting until the wee hours of the morning-an incredibly sad story of abuse and childhood neglect. Children are precious gifts. I can’t understand the heartless abuse and thoughtless actions of the parents…. Several pages made me fiercely angry at some times and sad but hopeful at others… and the emails… wow!!! I just could not hold back the tears. The authors compassion throughout the book in her persistent efforts to heal a broken relationship, and the subsequent rejections, is nothing short of amazing. This book touched my soul. Although quite a tear-jerker, it is a beautifully written account and proof that true resilience will reign. I ordered a second copy for a friend who went through a similar experience. I do believe it will help her and countless others who read it. The book made me appreciate life in general, and gave me a fresher perspective. When I recounted and re-read parts of the book to my husband and children, it sparked some very honest conversations that were certainly teaching moments. Needless to say, my 2 children and husband read the book.
