"Man, this was a hard read. It was written very well. It pissed me off, made me sad, angered me more and had me just gawking at the unbelievability of it all. I know this brainwashing and cults/groups using Gods word for power and personal gain exists in our world but it still shocks me.
I wanted to throw Lilah off a cliff so many times. My heart broke for her so many times.
I’m just not sure what all to say about this story. Bravo to the author for writing this book and pulling so many strong emotions from her readers. It truly is an eye opening deal."

- Wow. I mean, wow. I'm not sure what else to say about this book. I thought the first one was intense, but that one doesn't hold a patch on Heart Recaptured. I just can't get over everything in this book. Seriously. Lilah is so amazingly, profoundly broken, and she fractures more in this book.
Lilah, as one of the Cursed, was isolated, abused, and molested. When her sister Mae is kidnapped and brought back the cult they were both members of, her lover and his motorcycle club come to get her back. During that raid, they rescue Lilah and Maddie. One of her rescuers was Ky, the second in charge in the club. He's struck by her beauty and is seriously attracted to her. But since she has spent her entire life hearing that she's got the Devil inside her and she has the power to tempt a man and hold him under his spell, she is sure she's sinning, somehow.
Ky is a big old slut. He likes women and he will go out and do any and every woman possible. He doesn't want to be tied down to anyone. His dad always told him to not worship any women. So, why can't he get Lilah out of his head?
I really hate this cult. They are a bunch of hypocrites, and what their elders are able to do in the name of their religion should get them castrated, at the very least. I'm pretty sure that I can come up with some worse things to happen to them, if I think about it hard enough. I hope that the Hangmen end up wiping them off the face of the earth somehow. What they did to Lilah and how they warped and fractured her is just beyond cruel and torture. Tillie does almost too well at describing the inner workings of the cult and their thinking. I'm horrified by their choices, but it makes for good reading.
Now that I've finished this one, it's on to the next one and to see what happens with Maddie. - The second book in this series was almost harder to read than the first, but still worth it. I knew what to expect with Ky, and an idea with Lilah, but she was such a tough nut to crack!
I gave this book a 5-star rating even though I got frustrated with her at times. I've worked with the mentally ill, and I know this kind of brainwashing exists. It's hard to counter, and it takes a lot of back and forth before a person can break free. Some never do. For this reason alone, this book deserves a 5 for its realistic portrayal of brainwashing from such a young age.
The resolution was handled expertly. For Lilah to witness things that were opposite of what she'd been taught--and by her own "church"/cult--was something to behold. The violence and assaults weren't easy, but I know they go on daily in this world, and so I felt I could--no SHOULD--read this story.
Ky is a hot, sexy hero, pure alpha MC, and I loved him. I loved him for loving Lilah through her struggle, for accepting her for who she could be, and for his fierce devotion. He's a hero to remember. - What happens when a group of bikers invade a commune? The Hangmen are getting ready to find out!!
Upon their capture from the commune, Maddie and Lilah find themselves thrust into a world that they never imagined. For years, the girls were brainwashed about the ‘rights’ and ‘wrongs’ of the world. A clear contradiction to the rest of the world. Now that they occupy a place in the world of the Hangmen, Maddie and Lilah try to stay locked away from the sins of these corrupt individuals.
After Styx asked Ky to help lead Lilah through her journey into the ‘real world’, the two embarked upon a partnership of sorts. Let me explain…..Lilah was taught at the compound that the devil was the reason for her beauty. A tool to entrap men and put them under her ‘spell’. Something that sounds ridiculous to most, but was a stark reality at the oddities that were taught in the compound. A new outlook on life can’t occur overnight, but Ky is doing his best to teach Lilah that an entire world is waiting to be discovered.
Who knew that the person that would capture Ky’s heart would be Lilah? From the very first moment Ky saw Lilah at the compound, something stirred deep in his soul. How can someone so innocent capture the soul of one of the Hangmen? Ky knows that he will have to take a different ‘path’ with Lilah. After all – the mental abuse that she was experienced to is still prevalent in her life. In spite of Lilah’s belief that she is the devil’s tool, Ky is determined to prove that his feelings are more than the result of a false prophet’s teaching. As the two spend more time together, Ky will show a side of the Hangmen that is pretty hard to ignore.
Wow!! Can Tillie Cole write some compelling words or what?? Heart Recaptured had me compelled from the very beginning. A storyline that seemed so vivid that you could picture all of the antics in of the Hangmen. Let’s talk about Ky…..well…what’s not to love? The way Ky protects Lilah…..oh my….I was in love with this Hangman!!! Lilah’s backstory is heartbreaking and difficult to think of a person going through. Trust me when I say that this Hangmen couple will definitely pull you into their tale and not let go!!
Heart Recaptured clearly was a GREAT book, and I don’t think I could read it fast enough! Every nuance kept me sucked into this tale that must be savored! Flame and Maddie’s journey is next!! So the ‘ride’ isn’t over yet. In fact – I am pretty sure that Tillie Cole is in it for the long haul with these bikers that simply exude loyalty and devotion!!
