"This book narrates the life of Christ and includes many photographs and historical background information. The photos and background are very good information. However, the narrative of the biblical account includes many comments about how individuals in the Gospels could have been thinking or feeling. This is not helpful, and is quite annoying. (This style is often employed by journalists untrained in historiography, attempting to write history). The author does include several accounts of his experience in Israel, as well as some modern history of Israel. This is helpful in explaining some background to archaeological discoveries. Chapters 9 and 10 are very informative on Jerusalem and the Jewish temple. The book is helpful, but one may need to be prepared to skim some of the imaginative narrative."

- This book is an excellent, thorough reference with detailed maps, great photography, and a readable style. I've visited almost all of the spots included in this visual history of Jesus Christ's life, and I appreciate the accuracy with which they are depicted here. The book also is a very beautiful one, and I love the graphic design.
I highly recommend Jesus, A Visual History to students of Biblical archaeology and/or archaeology of Israel and Palestine, and pastors or laypersons looking to bring something visual to their teaching. It's also simply an enjoyable read. - This is superb. A faithful, devotional, story-telling flavor based on well-researched Biblical, Archeological, and Historical data. Donald Brake has done a wonderful, loving service. I studied at the Holy Land Institute once and have been there many times for business and pleasure. A joy to read, a great field guide for a trip to Israel, with a sturdy sewn binding and end-flaps to hold your place. The historical and the modern photos, courtesy of Todd Bolen and others, are wonderful to look at and admire and imagine! Thank you so much gentlemen ... and to all the many other gentlemen and ladies that made such a wonderful work possible.
- Donald Brake brings together all four Gospels to tell the story of Christ's life and mission, in chronological order, with corresponding photos of archeological sites, maps and information about the history of the land and peoples. Very pleased with this book in preparation for my own trip to the Holy Land.
- This is one of the best books IĆ¢€™ve ever read about the history of Jesus. Goes in great detail about the history.
- Awesome book!
- Got it as a gift for my husband. He is really enjoying it!!!
- It gives a lot of background to the Gospels plus the photography of actual sights is important to understand context better. There are also a number of older photographs which are very interesting.
