London Refrain Zion Covenant Bodie Thoene Brock Thoene Books Reviews
- I have read the first 6 of the Zion Covenant series and really enjoyed them. I have read the reviews and knew that the final three were a combination of another book (that i have not read) with Zion Covenant characters thrown into the mix. Therefore, I do not feel that I bought a book that I have already read, BUT the book is much shorter than the first 6 yet the price is about the same.
London Refrain picks up with the bombing of Warsaw and the eventual fall of Poland to the Nazis. It carries through just a few months of late 1939 where France and England have declared war, but have not begun to actually fight. If you are a Zion Covenant reader, there will be quite a few new characters. It left me hanging and wanting to know what happens next, so I have bought the Paris book already.
For some reason, London Refrain does not seem to be available on , so I bought the paperback. - This book desperately needs editing. It is center aligned rather than being left aligned. Sections are separated by the word "dingbat." This is not a reflection of the authors. It is a problem with the scanning. It was not finished. The book is good although shorter than the other six earlier works in this series.
- What happened to this book of Zion Covenant series? I read the whole series many years ago in paperback and wanted to re-read series on my . London Refrain has a lot of spelling errors & after paragraphs in the book, {dingbat} keeps appearing. Really disappointing, definitely not as good as the other books in this series. I do not remember the story of this book from the old paperback series either. Sending back for a refund.
- This series has been outstanding! I have now re-read all seven in the series, and found the characters to be so vivid. This final one was no exception. The characters became so real to me, it was as though I was living back in this uncertain period of history. This book helped me to remember Hitler and his crimes against humanity. May we all know what a brutal dictator he was, and hopefully never allow such evil into our world again.
- I am glad that someone had the courage to put the truth on how the Jews were mistreated and tortured for no reason really. I hope this kind of war is never repeated. I recommend the book series and the authors.
- London Refrain is book 7 in the Zion Covenant Series by Bodie and Brock Thoene. This series is a historical fiction about the reign of Adolf Hitler and they weave their own fictional characters in actual historical events throughout the series. The writing keeps me interested and I learn as I read, too. They don't try play down the horrors of what that time was about, but they also give you some hero's to root for weaved inside the story. There with the historical information there is also romance, mystery and of course drama. When I finish one book I can't wait to see what happens to the characters in the next book. Many times I look up the history on line to learn about events mentioned in the book that I didn't learn in a classroom or that I had forgotten. I highly recommend their books not just this series but other book series of theirs as well.
- I've loved the Zion Covenant Books; vastly improved my knowledge of the times around WWII and extremely interesting storylines. But this book (London Refrain) has issues. I think this is an issue, not the authors. It appears to be a version that is still undergoing edits. It's not the final book. I paid the same price for London Refrain that I have the other 6 prior books in this series, yet I got a version that isn't finished. should not be charging full price.
- I got this series when it first came out many years ago. I now have it in ebook. The Thoenes are great writers. Their research about the history they write is excellent. Their books make you feel as if you are part of the story. I enjoy a book that when I am finished, I feel like I am still part of the story waiting and wanting more. I can give no greater praise. Too many books today don't leave you feeling that way.
